Bali Airport Closure and New Routes for Bangkok Air

A couple of significant items of note in this week’s news:

Bali Airport Closures in October

Owing to the APEC summit to be held in Bali, airport authorities have decided to close Bali Denpasar airport on the main VIP travel days immediately before and after the conference. According to DesinAsian, the airport will be closed on October 5 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, October 6 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, October 8 from 10:00 to 8:00 pm and October 9 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. If you have already booked flights on these dates, your airline should be getting in touch with you about rescheduling.

Also, if you have booked a hotel anywhere in the vicinity of Nusa Dua, you may want to check with the hotel about whether or not you still have a room.

Bangkok Airways Adds Naypyidaw

Asia’a ‘Boutique Airline’, as it likes to call itself, has announced that beginning on September 30 they will begin flights to the new Burmese capital at Naypyidaw. The airline already flies to Yangon and Mandalay. Flights will use the smaller ATR72 plans and there’s no indication of frequency on the airline’s web site as yet.

Speaking of frequency, the airline also plans to increase service to Mandalay to daily flights beginning October 27. For more information, see the Bangkok Airways web site.
