More news from AirAsia: They just announced plans to start flying between Bangkok and Mandalay, commencing 4 October 2012. That’s just three days after the budget airline makes their move back to Don Muang International Airport.
Although Mandalay has a large relatively new airport, the last time I visited the lights were off in most of the building, which was less than a quarter used. The move by Thai AirAsia is a sign of the growing acceptance of Myanmar / Burma as part of the Southeast Asian travel market.
