Cambodian Air Fares to Include Airport Taxes

Beginning 1 April 2011, travelers departing Cambodia by air will no longer need to queue to pay the airport departure tax. The US$ 25 fee has been included in ticket prices since 21 January 2011, for departures on or after 1 April. Competition on the Bangkok – Siem Reap Route Coming Soon

One of the big frustrations for many travelers planning a trip to Southeast Asia has been the high cost of plane tickets between Bangkok and Siem Reap, the gateway to the Angkor Wat archaeological site. The high price is the result of Bangkok Airway’s monopoly on the route.

Now it looks like Bangkok Airways will have some competition. Cambodia Angkor Airways confirmed this week that it plans to fly the route. No fixed date was given for the new service, although some reports suggest it is dependent on the delivery of additional aircraft later this year.
