Airlines Serving Penang International Airport

Malaysia is not quite as well served by international carriers as its neighbors Thailand and Singapore, but it is well-connected within the region and has very good connections to the Gulf and Africa.

Malaysia Air System
The national carrier flies internationally between Penang and Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong or Medan. For domestic flights, MAS only connects to Kuala Lumpur.
Air Asia
Budget Air Asia is one of Malaysia's largest domestic carriers. They and their affiliates connect Penang to Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Medan. Book well in advance to get the best rates, but be mindful of the checked baggage limits.
Firefly
Firefly was launched in 2007 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines. Billed as Asia's first "community airline", the Penang-based carrier is designed to provide low-cost service out of Malaysia's second-busiest airport, connecting Penang to cities throughout northern Malaysia, southern Thailand and Sumatra. From Penang you can fly to Phuket, Samui, Terengganu or Medan, among other options.

Other international airline options include Thai, Lion Air, Wings Air and China Airlines.
