Garuda Indonesia, the national carrier, has announced that they will begin direct service between Bali Denpasar and Ampenan Selaparang Airport, Mataram, on the island of Lombok. While the carrier has long flown to Lombok from Jakarta, they have previously left the popular Bali – Lombok route to other carriers, mainly the much maligned Merpati.
The new flight is timed to make it convenient for passengers arriving from, or returning to, Australia to make connections without having to spend a night in Bali.
